The Trebbia Valley is formed by the homonymous river, which originates at the foot of Mount PrelĂ and stretches from the borders of Liguria and Pavia to reach the Po Valley, crossing the territory of Piacenza.
It is a valley highly appreciated for its history and culture, thanks to the presence of numerous villages and castles, most of which date back to the Middle Ages.
The Trebbia Valley is a valley full of things to do.
The Trebbia Valley offers a wide range of activities, catering to various needs, from families with children to couples seeking relaxation on the marvellous beaches along the Trebbia, to more adventurous travellers.
Travo is located on the left bank of the Trebbia River, a small ancient village dominated by its medieval castle. Initially built as a fortress by the Malaspina family, it later passed to the Anguissola family.
Donated to the municipality by Countess Maria Salini in 1978, it now also houses the base of the Archaeological Civic Museum, featuring prehistoric, protohistoric, Roman and medieval artefacts.
From the main square, you can reach the Church of Saint Antonino, built around the middle of the 11th century and dedicated to the patron saint of Piacenza, who, according to tradition, found martyrdom in these places.
Not to be missed is the Archaeological Park of the Neolithic Village, where a significant portion of the prehistoric structures unearthed in the area during excavation campaigns are preserved.
Various activities can be enjoyed throughout the year, from taking a plunge in the crystal-clear waters of the Trebbia River during summer to walks in nature or the nearby woods for mushroom picking. There are also numerous well-marked hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding trails. Not to forget the rich cultural programme with events involving nationally and internationally renowned artists.
The uncontested protagonists of this area of the Trebbia Valley are the Two Stones, Parcellara and Perduca, shrouded in mystery and charm that can only be understood by experiencing it.
“Probably no one will ever know or establish with certainty if there is really a connection beyond randomness, but it is a fact that two of the most mysterious and fascinating places in the world are perfectly aligned with the Two Stones. Stonehenge, Parcellara and Perduca, and the Pyramids of Giza are connected by a subtle, fascinating, and mysterious common thread”. https://www.travoeleduepietre.com/)
Today, the village represents a reputed holiday destination that surprises everyone in all seasons.
